More About MeI'm a good listener, and an even better talker: I'm working on going less talking and more listening-- because after all, I have two ears and only one mouth! Relationships (with family; friends) are the most important aspect of life, as far as I'm concerned, and kindness and intelligence are the most important characteristics in a potential date-- but not necessarily in order of priority. :-) I hope to get to know you!
Hobbies / Interests / ActivitiesLive theater; live music; live comedy; art galleries; museums; outdoor festivals; movies. Sports if I'm participating or watching live; otherwise no thanks. :-)
Political Affiliationeh. Socially liberal, fiscally conservative.
Who I Would Like to MeetBarack Obama... Atticus Finch... Joan of Arc... Mother Teresa... YOU! (Only one of these has the remotest chance of happening!)
Favorite MusicTrain; Maroon 5; John Mayer; Indigo Girls; Sarah MacLachlan; Rob Thomas; KFOG; Barry Manilow (c'mon: he writes the songs that make the whole world sing!); Barbara Streisand; soundtracks to musical theater ("Wicked," "Les Miserables," and "Chess" are my favorites); Copland; Mozart; Bach; most anything except rap with angry-and/or- degrading lyrics.
Favorite TV ShowsThe Mentalist; Medium; Judging Amy; Joan of Arcadia; CSI: New York; The Muppet Show!
Favorite MoviesThe Princess Bride; It's a Wonderful Life; To Kill a Mockingbird; While You Were Sleeping; The Italian Job; The Sandlot; Stardust; Life Is Beautiful; The Manchurian Candidate (original with Angela Landsbury and Frank Sinatra); usually whatever I've seen in the theater most recently. I. e., "The Soloist" was heartbreaking, and VERY well-done.
Favorite BooksTo Kill a Mockingbird; The Bean Trees; The Poisonwood Bible; Paradise Lost; Shakespeare anthology; fiction in general.
Favorite Quotes"The light you seek is in your own lantern." I just read this on someone's profile: "Pessimists think the world is going to end and everyone is going to die. Optimists think so too. They're both right." This one from Marcel Proust: "The real voyage of discovery lies not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes." I try to have very new eyes, as a rule!
