More About MeRetired for two years now, live by myself and getting bored, fat, and lonely. My daughter, who lives in her own place upstairs, came down. looked at me and my house and in a few, well chosen, if ungracious, words explalined how dating works in the new milenium. To every explanation I tried to offer she replied "well obviously you don't know or you wouldn't be alone all the time". So here we are. I love to read. Mostly I read books about American history. Right now I am reading "No Ordinary Time" by Doris Kearns Goodwin, and have "Land of Promise: An Eonomic History of the United States" by Michael Lind teed up to go next. When I am not reading about US History, I read mysteries. My favorites are Agatha Cristie, Margery Allingham and, my favorite of favorites, Dorothy L. Sayers. I like modern authors as well, but then I have to keep buying new books. With my old favorites, I just have remember that the title seems to bring back a positive memory, and I can read it again just like it was brand new (a little Alzheimer's joke). My TV watching is pretty limited. You can only read so many hours a day for so many days in a row. So when I am bored or not in the mode to start a new chapter or new book, I turn on a Chicago sports broadcast or an old movie on Turner Classic Movies.
